Come and enjoy a wonderful retelling of the Christmas story,” said the Rev. Elizabeth Northcott, St. Mark’s newly-appointed priest.

Through narration and some gorgeous music by composer Lloyd Larsen the birth of Jesus is brought to life in a modern way. We’re really looking forward to sharing this with our friends and neighbours in the community.”

Violinist Rachelle Kerr is a former member of the South Saskatchewan Youth Orchestra and the University of Regina Chamber Orchestra. After moving to Vancouver Island seven years ago she joined the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra.

Dave Hitchcock has been co-music director and pianist at St. Mark’s for 16 years. He studied music at university in England, Hungary and Calgary. As a school principal in Alberta he was a strong supporter of fine arts. He has sung in choirs and been involved in church music all his life.

The cantata includes arrangements of the very familiar Christmas carols O Come O Come Emmanuel, Hark the Herald and Silent Night. The audience will be invited to join in singing several other Christmas favourites. For further information call the church office at 250-752-5414.
