Choral Eucharist
This Sunday, the Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost, the Holy Eucharist will be celebrated according to the authorised LITURGY OF THE ISLANDS & INLETS by the Rev Diana Boland. We are happy to have you visit or begin regular attendance.
The symbol in the image represents the Sacred Circle within the Anglican Church of Canada. It features several key elements, including two salmon and a Medicine Wheel. The two salmon—one female and one male—represent rebirth by water and the spirit as an Indigenous Church. The Medicine Wheel displays four colours representing the four directions and the four main peoples living on Earth, symbolising the need to live together in peace and partnership.
The Sacred Circle is the national gathering and decision-making body for Indigenous Anglicans in Canada. The symbol's elements reflect the organisation’s journey toward self-determination and its deep roots in both Indigenous traditions and the Christian faith.
Key Elements of the Symbol
- The Salmon: The two salmon (one female and one male) signify rebirth by water and the spirit, representing the ongoing development of the Indigenous Church.
- The Medicine Wheel: The four colours of the Medicine Wheel represent the four directions and the four main groups of people on Earth (Asian, Indigenous, Black, and White). This serves as a symbol of unity and the call to live in peace and partnership.
- The Feather: While specific interpretations can vary, the feather is a traditional symbol of honour, wisdom, and connection to the Creator in many Indigenous cultures, often used in sacred ceremonies and gatherings.
