As you can see, the support for Orange Shirt Day was strong at Parish of St. Mark on Sunday, September 30th. Rev. Michael Deck even had a special stole made up for the event featuring the graphics from the t-shirt. This day is held in Canada annually to bring people together to honour and remember the sacrifices of residential school survivors and their families. It is a path to reconciliation for these survivors who are returning to their cultural roots, reviving traditions once lost to them, and finding strength in family to create a better future for all Canadians.

The Parish of St. Mark acknowledges that for thousands of years the Coast Salish, Nuu-chah-nulth, and Kwakwaka'wakw peoples have walked gently on the unceded territories where we now live, work, worship, and play. We seek a new relationship with the first peoples here, one based in honour and respect, and we thank them for their hospitality.

Many thanks to Phyllis Thompson and René Carriere for the photos.
